STEAM RETURNS TO TAUMARUNUI!

October 4 @ 11:30 am - 2:30 pm
This October, the unmistakable sound of a steam locomotive will once again echo through the King Country as Ab 608 “Passchendaele” takes to the North Island Main Trunk.
Join us aboard the Waimiha Wanderer on Sunday 4 October for a special steam-hauled journey from Taumarunui to Waimiha and return.

🌿 Leaving Taumarunui, we’ll cross the Taringamotu River before following the Ongarue River north through rugged King Country countryside.
🚂 We’ll pass Okahukura – junction of the mothballed Stratford–Okahukura railway – before continuing to the former logging settlement of Waimiha.
At Waimiha, have your cameras ready! 📸
Ab 608 will detach and “run around” the heritage carriages, passing alongside the train before coupling onto the other end for our steam-hauled journey back to Taumarunui.
Make sure you spend some time on our open-air viewing platforms too – there’s nothing quite like hearing the locomotive working, feeling the fresh country air and experiencing steam travel as generations before us once did.
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 A great little railway adventure for the whole family!
